    The Global Water Security Center (GWSC) seeks a cartographer passionate about addressing global environmental challenges in the real world by turning complex information into compelling visual stories. The candidate will conceptualize, through multiple ways, the display of maps and information of environmental drivers such as drought, heat, and flooding.

    We’re looking for a candidate with experience acquiring and assessing geospatial data from various sources, including government agencies, satellite imagery providers, and open data repositories. The candidate will undertake careful design and preparation of maps, charts, and spatial information databases. Their products will tell the story about the water supply, food, energy, and health around the world in order to educate policy and decision makers. Applicant should be a self-starter, analytically creative, willing to brainstorm, and inquisitive.

    This role is at the center of conservation, geospatial data, and technology at TNC. The Senior Geospatial Business Analyst contributes to the development and delivery of globally accessible, scalable, and modern geospatial technologies by gathering, synthesizing, and communicating the needs of TNC conservation, science, and geospatial practitioners to the Conservation & Geospatial Systems team. The Senior Geospatial Business Analyst develops and oversees intake processes and leads change management and user adoption of new and upgraded data and technology solutions.

    The Senior Geospatial Business Analyst collaborates across IT teams to identify and clarify roles and responsibilities for the maintenance and support of geospatial applications to ensure that they remain performant and secure and meet the evolving needs of the geospatial and conservation science community.

    The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $91,800 - 137,800 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges.     As a GIS Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in our team, working within our GIS/Addressing Department. This position is highly technical and specialized, requiring proficiency in GIS technologies and a keen eye for detail. Applications received until March 22nd at 5:00pm.     The primary responsibilities are to develop models, build scripts, conduct geospatial analysis, publish services in ArcGIS Online/Portal, design maps, create and update data using a Geographic Information System (GIS) and to provide information for the maintenance of the District’s Addressing Plan and database(s).Education and Experience Requirements:
    • High school diploma or G.E.D. and completion of certified technical training, including coursework in geography, urban planning, computer science, addressing, engineering or cartography.
    • Bachelor’s degree in a Geography-related field or closely related discipline preferred.
    • Familiarity with 9-1-1 systems and emergency services workflows preferred but not required.
    • Experience working with Esri software preferred. ie. ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise, ArcGIS Online.
    • Three years of on-the-job experience in computerized mapping and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications, as well as work with dBase and/or Microsoft Access, and property descriptions desirable. We encourage recent GIS graduates to apply though as well.
