    The West Alabama Regional Commission (WARC) is seeking applicants for a GIS Specialist. For over 50 years, WARC has served local governments and citizens by coordinating region wide projects and services, promoting cooperation among the local governments, and carrying out state and federal programs in the West Alabama Region.

    Qualified candidates must have knowledge of GIS/ESRI software including ArcMap, ArcPro, and ArcGIS Online as well as a bachelor’s degree in Geography (GIS) or related field or five years GIS work experience. Located in Northport, AL, this position is part of the WARC Transportation Department and reports to the Transportation Director. WARC boasts a variety of great benefits including state health insurance.

    The fundamental reason this classification exists is to perform entry- to intermediate level Geographic Information System (GIS) duties. These duties include creating, implementing, and maintaining GIS data. The essential functions are: creates and maintains GIS data; creates, edits, and maintains digital and hard copy spatial analysis products; provides support, training, and technical assistance to GIS users; and contributes to departmental objectives. The GIS Analyst is distinguished from the Senior GIS Analyst in that the GIS Analyst is assigned to less complex projects and requires closer supervision. Project assignments and technical guidance are received from the Senior GIS Analyst; supervision is provided by the GIS Manager.

    Job Summary

    Key Responsibilities

    • Direct account and sales management responsibility for increasing MGIS equipment sales in Alabama
    • Maintain and build strategic relationships with accounts to ensure the successful sale of Trimble MGIS products
    • Expand Trimble’s depth and breadth of products within each account
    • Maintain C-level relationships with strategic accounts
    • Actively prospect for new and expanded business
    • Ability to travel >50%

    Required Skills / Experience

    • Ability to generate new customers through qualifying, presenting and closing using solution sales techniques
